Final B-Schools Selection Criteria – IIMs

  • CAT Exam – CAT is the first step towards entering into IIMs. The CAT exam consists of subjects like Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability, with a total of 100 questions having three marks each. It is mandatory to clear the sectional and overall cutoff to get a call for CAP (Campus Admission Process) round. Apart from the CAT score, significant weight age is being given to 10th class marks, 12th class marks, graduation marks, Gender diversity factor and work experience. All these parameters constitute composite score. The test takers are called on the basis of this composite score. Sometimes, IIMs can skip one or the other factor within the composite score. It all depends from one IIM to other IIM.
  • CAP Round– The CAP round consists of Written Ability test and Personal Interview. In the written Ability test, the students are asked to write an essay on a given topic in about 250-300 words in 20-30 minutes. The personal Interview is the last stage on which the candidate is marked. It consists of questions based on a student’s technical expertise, HR based questions and some other questions to check whether a student can fit in the institute of not.
