How the Raw Composite Score Is Built
Once A through E are summed into the Raw Application Rating, it's normalized against the average of the top 50 AR scores across the entire applicant pool. That normalized AR receives 35% weightage; the applicant's total CAT percentile receives the remaining 65%:
Raw Composite Score = 0.35 × Normalized Application Rating + 0.65 × (Total CAT Percentile ÷ 100)

Discipline-Based Normalization: Why It Matters
The Raw Composite Score is normalized a second time — not against the whole applicant pool, but specifically within your assigned discipline:
Normalized Composite Score = Raw Composite Score ÷ (Average of the top 1% raw composite scores within your discipline)

Special Cases & Fine Print
CA / CS / ICWA / FIAI candidates
For CA/CS/ICWA candidates, Rating Score C is computed as the average of Inter and Final marks percentage. For FIAI (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India) candidates, the aggregate marks percentage entered on the CAT form is used instead.
If your university doesn't publish a percentage
If your institution doesn't award marks as a percentage, IIM Ahmedabad computes it based on marks obtained across all subjects listed on your marksheet. If a letter-grade-only system is used, you'll need an official equivalence certificate from your institution — submitted at the time of interview, if shortlisted.
Incomplete degrees at the time of application
If you haven't completed your bachelor's degree yet, your percentage is computed based on the latest available marksheets. You must be able to provide marksheets for all completed semesters/years at any stage of the process — withholding available marksheets can lead to disqualification.
Government policy contingency
If the Government of India issues specific guidelines affecting the process, IIM Ahmedabad reserves the right to continue with the standard AWT & PI process and/or use an alternative mechanism, such as a supplementary test or additional information request.
Refund policy
A processing fee of ₹1,000 is deducted from any applicable refund, per the Ministry of Education's standing notification on this matter. The remainder is returned to the original payment account.
